World YWCA General Secrtary Nyaradzai Gumbonzvanda is a presenter at the seminar and will be speaking on 'Resourcing the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
The first Helvi Sipilä Seminar was held in 2006 with the theme: ‘Power in her hands,’ to discuss women in leadership. The seminar was started in honour of Sipilä’s work and women’s contribution to the CSW and in other international and national women’s organisation.
The 2008 seminar will address two challenging issues affecting women and their lives globally in the 21st century, which are:
- How women who live in crisis areas cope, their method of survival in the face constant threats and challenges.
- New research evidence shown by Finish study of the competitive advantage gained by Finnish companies with women in their top management
