The Huairou Commission has expanded their IWS coinciding event. The Grassroots International Academy: "Uniting Communities around care giving" will be held from June 29 - July 2, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The themes of the Grassroots Academy are:

• Caregiving

• Governance and Leadership

• Women's Land, Inheritance and Property Rights

• The impact of HIV and AIDS on adolescent girls and children

It will focus on showcasing and sharing the numerous ways home-based caregivers are recreating caring communities, effectively responding to the multi-faceted causes of HIV and AIDS.

It will be an opportune setting for building solidarity among caregivers, solidifying and expanding the Home-Based Care Alliance and consolidating an advocacy platform.
