Billions of dollars are invested in HIV and AIDS responses every year, yet resources are not reaching where they are most needed. In this session, women working in local communities share the challenges they face in accessing funding for HIV programmes and come face to face with global funders. The World Bank reports on its own challenges and lessons learnt through funding programmes for women and girls. (Not confirmed yet – unfortunately) The politics of funding in Africa are also explored, along with global research on the current funding situation for women globally. The session also reviews the potential for public/private partnerships in responding to HIV and AIDS, sharing case studies that are making a difference in the lives of women and girls.
