International Accessing AIDS Funding at the Community Level
July 6, 13:30-17:30, Undugu Polytechnic, Mathare

Global AIDS funding mechanisms are expressly designed to ensure the inclusion of civil society actors and decentralize their funding distribution. Despite these initiatives, grassroots actors are consistently left out of decision-making processes and funding allocation. This Town Hall Meeting will invite community discussion on challenges diverse individuals and groups (particularly home-based caregivers) have met in the face of HIV and AIDS and highlight strategies communities have used to negotiate with local authorities to respond to these challenges. Key individuals (both government and institutional representatives) will be invited to share how their institutions are devolving funds to local levels. All participants will engage in discussion for how to improve these processes and address challenges faced by home-based caregivers.
