International Lessons Learnt from Changing Communities
July 4-7

A growing realisation from all those involved in HIV and AIDS-related work is that programming efforts should be informed by solid evidence of what is effective and what is not. The need to strengthen evidence-based interventions, from advocacy to research to actual programming is crucial to overcoming the impact of HIV and AIDS on communities, individuals, families and vulnerable groups while addressing those challenges that fuel the spread of the pandemic.

This stream will look at lessons learned from interventions relating to HIV prevention messages specifically focusing on what works for women. There will be a strong focus on successful strategies for securing inheritance rights for positive women, showcasing training packages and toolkits for community-based prevention, treatment, care and support programmes for women, empowerment of young people to break the cycle of stigma and discrimination and identifying innovative work with regard to supporting orphans and vulnerable children.
