Developing and promoting women’s leadership at all levels is key to strengthening responses to the pandemic and ensuring that HIV and AIDS programmes work for women and girls. Given that HIV and AIDS is connected to social, cultural, economic and political issues that make women and girls vulnerable to HIV infection the question of women’s leadership becomes vital to reversing the trend of infections among women and girls.
This stream will look at the many components that make up women’s leadership from strengthening women’s capacity to access resources, highlighting good practices and developing strategies to replicate these in various contexts, public speaking for positive women to analyzing leadership itself. This stream will bring a greater understanding of how leadership is and should be defined in the context of HIV and AIDS.
