none Week of Prayer Booklet 2006
The 2006 theme was "Changing Lives: Changing Communities"

The World YWCA/YMCA Week of Prayer and World Fellowship 2006 took place from November 12-18 with the theme Changing Lives: Changing Communities . Both the World Alliance of YMCAs and World YWCA focused on the theme of community for their World Council meetings in 2006 and 2007.

Human beings are created to live in community. Being in community gives us a sense of belonging, as we come together with a shared vision and purpose. In these days of individualism and self-centeredness it is not an easy task to live in communion with one another. But maybe things in this world could change if we allow ourselves to come closer to others and let others come closer to us, giving ourselves to each other without restrictions, just as we are, caring for the practical and spiritual lives of those around us, and accepting their care for us.

The booklet to accompany this week comprises of six Bible studies, a suggested order of worship and a 12-month Bible reading plan and is a resource for YWCAs, YMCAs, and individuals to reflect on how best to live in communion with one another and how to bring about change in the communities where they work.
