The International AIDS Conference is a biennial meeting that has become the world’s largest open forum on global health. These conferences provide a unique forum for the interaction of science, community and leadership and strengthen an evidence-based policy and programmatic response to HIV and AIDS
At the Ecumenical Pre-Conference, more than 500 Christians from all over the world are expecting to participate in plenary sessions, skills building workshops and daily worship.
The theme for the 2008 Ecumenical Pre-Conference is Faith in Action Now! It ambition is to engage participants in exploring the challenges posed by the HIV and AIDS pandemic to people of faith, evaluating actions to be taken and planning strategies required to put the Gospel into action in the Christian response to HIV and AIDS.
The World YWCA is part of the Global Ecumenical Team (GET), which is responsible for setting overall direction, priority and policy for faith-based activities at the IAC.
In parallel, the YWCA of Mexico is involved in the Christian Host Committee for the Ecumenical Pre-Conference. Together with local churches and other church-related organisations, the YWCA of Mexico is working to plan for and support the faith-based presence at IAC 2008 in Mexico City.
Registration for the 3rd Ecumenical Pre-Conference to the International AIDS Conference 2008 closes on May 31, 2008.
