What footprints will we leave in this earth? Will it be intact for future generations?

Today’s globalised world has witnessed increased poverty, violence, crime and environmental degradation, and women have been disproportionately affected. Seventy percent of the 1.3 billion people living on less than US$1 per day are women. We must act now to secure economic justice for all human beings, and a stable healthy environment for the next generation.

The following resources can guide actions to secure a healthy world, now and tomorrow.

Development Alternatives With Women For A New Era (DAWN) is a network of women scholars and activists from the economic South. Their focus is “feminist research” and they provide a good source of information on women and development issues.

The United Nations Development Programme is the UN’s global development network, and provides information and resources on several development issues including gender and South-South cooperation.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s Digital Library is a great store of global trade information in several languages including English, Spanish, French, Russian, and Chinese.

Global Trade Watch seeks to promote democracy by challenging corporate globalisation. Their information and analysis from monitoring global trade practices is very useful.

Women’s Environment and Development Organisation shares information on a number of issues related to development, with a sharp gender focus.
