none Launch of Honoring women leaders
General Secretary YWCA of Taiwan Ping Lee, World YWCA General Secretary Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro, Former World YWCA President Jane Wolfe (USA) and Former World Executive Member Sylvia Ting (Taiwan).
YWCAs around the world have been working to build a fund that will invest in the movement’s top priority—empowering women and girls to lead social change. During the World YWCA Council in July, the YWCA wants to celebrate a significant benchmark in building this fund: US $10 million, the point at which income from the fund will be used by YWCAs to expand the leadership development of women and girls. To date, US $7 million has been raised and a foundation has issued a challenge grant of US $1 million, which will be awarded when the fund reaches US $9 million. To access this challenge grant, we must raise an additional US $2 million.

Can we get there by June? With your help, we can! Now is your opportunity to give women and girls “the power to change.” Make your donation today to the Power to Change Fund and it will be matched through the generosity of the foundation. With your help and the support of the foundation we can celebrate the milestone of reaching US $10 million in the Power to Change Fund at the 2007 World YWCA Council in Nairobi.

Almost US$ 2 million is needed and every gift brings us closer to the goal. The fund has grown because of the generosity and vision of hundreds of YWCAs, friends, foundations, and businesses. Your support for this important programme is crucial. If you have already given, please consider another donation at this time.

There are many ways you can support the Power to Change Fund. “Honouring Women Leaders,” a new programme of the World YWCA is a special way to do so. If you wish to have a named fund within the Power to Change Fund, donate $10,000 and ensure your interests are addressed in perpetuity.

Celebrate World YWCA Day with an Around the World Breakfast. Be creative in your fundraising strategies. Let’s all use our Power to Change, and make this larger than we ever dreamed. Use this opportunity to think about the work of the YWCA and what a difference this Fund will make in the lives of women and girls and how you can be part of it.

Send your donation now and join us in July for World Council in Nairobi to celebrate.
