YWCA of Samoa Revival
The YWCA of Samoa is reviving its National Headquarters after being out of operation for several years. Maiava Visekota Peteru, President of the YWCA of Samoa, has received funding through AusAid for an Australian Youth Ambassador to travel to Samoa to work as an Office Manager and transfer skills to local counterparts.

Not many people can pinpoint Papua New Guinea on a map; the Pacific Island country is often forgotten, as are the five and a half million inhabitants who call it home. The YWCA of Papua New Guinea however, does not see this as a barrier in their work with women and girls. “ We are moving and improving and have been blessed to become involved in a number of projects in the last twelve months, “ says YWCA of Papua New Guinea General Secretary Janet Russell.

On April 24, member associations around the world hosted a variety of events to commemorate World YWCA day. The events this year centered around the theme 'Listen to she who speaks: Women Leading Change' which builds on the honouring women leaders programme launched in 2007.

World YWCA Day: YWCA Finland Launches Project on Domestic Violence

On April 24 every year, women and girls around the world come together to celebrate the World YWCA day. The celebration this year focused on the theme ‘Listen to she who speaks: Women Leading Change’. Member associations held events such as the Round- the -World Breakfast, at which they shared stories and honoured women who have inspired them in their communities.

World YWCA Day: YWCA of Belarus celebrates leading woman politician Lumilda Petina
‘LISTEN to she who speaks: women leading change’ is the theme of World YWCA Day 2008 and the YWCA of Belarus took the opportunity to listen to a leading woman politician. During their Executive Committee Meeting, Lumilda Petina, Co-Chairperson of the Independent Women’s Democratic Movement in Belarus addressed participants on issues of women’s development in the country.

YWCA of the US Virgin Islands opens new office
YWCA of US Virgin Islands
Song and prayer were in the air when the YWCA of the US Virgin Islands held a grand opening of their new office on March 23. The opening of the office has been a labour of love for YWCA of the US Virgin Islands President Donnalie Edwards-Cabey who wants all the community to be involved. “The YWCA is for everyone. It’s not just for young people. All women are welcome, " said Cabey.
