World YWCA General Secretary Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda explains to media the current situation facing the women and girls of Zimbabwe
Prayers for justice, peace and healing in Zimbabwe were offered at a church service organised by the World YWCA and the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) on April 28 at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.

World YWCA General Secretary Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, who is from Zimbabwe, gave a personal testimony that demonstrated how the current political situation in Zimbabwe is affecting women and girls. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has still not announced results of the March 29 General Election and prayers at the service echoed the World YWCA’s call for a swift and peaceful resolution.

Midday prayers were also held outside the United Nations; World YWCA staff attended along with other ecumenical organisations. The World YWCA recently released a statement in partnership with the WSCF calling on members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to take immediate action to resolve the crisis.
