Join and encourage others to join the 2007 JAI Olive Picking Program
The Joint Advocacy Initiative of the East Jerusalem YMCA and YWCA of Palestine (JAI) and the Alternative Tourism Group (ATG) are organizing an Olive Picking Program in Palestine between the 21st of October and 30th of October, 2007.

Malaysia: Bridging Digital Divide
The YWCA of Malaysia this year received a grant of USD 61,000 from Microsoft Malaysia. The grant awarded in cash and software supports a computer literacy programme run at the YWCA of Malaysia center in Kuala Lumpur. In its mission to better promote digital literacy in the community, Microsoft Malaysia hands out grants to non-profit organisations to support technology training programmes, which range from the teaching of basic computer skills to the use of advanced business technology applications.

YWCAs in Peru and Lima providing long term support for earthquake victims
The YWCA of Peru continues with its relief efforts as the impact of the August 15 earthquake in southwest Peru begins to take its toll. BBC news reports that 1,300 people were injured in the earthquake and hospitals in the region are overwhelmed. Injured from the hardest hit areas of Pisco and Ica have been transported to Lima, the capital city of Peru for specialised medical treatment. Family members travel with the injured, but many cannot find or afford accommodation in Lima. The YWCA of Lima has stepped in to provide accommodation for these distressed families, currently providing accommodation for 25 people.

YWCA of Peru in relief efforts after earthquake rocks the country
At least 17,000 people are displaced and wide areas remain without power, telephone service or road access in Peru after an earthquake rocked the country on August 14. The worst damage has been reported in the south west coast of Peru, particularly in Pisco and Chincha e Ica, south of Lima, the capital city of Peru. At least 510 people are believed dead as a result of the earthquake. Silvanna Ayaipoma, National General Secretary of the YWCA of Peru reports that members of the YWCA of Peru and YWCA of Lima are safe despite the tragedy.

YWCA Week Without Violence
Imagine a week without violence. Imagine women walking the streets at night without fear. Imagine police officers not needing to use guns. Imagine domestic violence, rape and female genital mutilation as faded memories of a long gone era. The YWCA Week Without Violence is an annual worldwide campaign that will take place in the third week of October 2007 (14-20) to encourage communities to think and act towards a world without violence.

YWCA of Palestine in Joint Initiative for a “Journey for Justice”
The YWCA of Palestine, in conjunction with the East Jerusalem YMCA, is organizing the “Journey for Justice 2007,”which will take place from October 14 to 22. The Journey for Justice is a Joint Advocacy Initiative designed for young YWCA and YMCA leaders that aims to offer its participants the opportunity to see and experience how Palestinian youth view the various aspects of Palestinian life under the current occupation.

YWCA of England and Wales Launches Campaign To Help Disadvantaged Young Women Rise from Bottom Rung of Career Ladder
Following the release of a report that highlights the problems of gender segregation and low pay that still exist in the UK labor market, the YWCA of England and Wales has begun a campaign to help disadvantaged young women work their way off the bottom rung of the career ladder by increasing their employment opportunities.
