Deadline: February 29, 2008
There will be three prospective types of Hubs for AIDS 2008:
- Official Hubs organised by the International AIDS Society and a local partner
- Partner Hubs run by the organising partners of the International Conference (ICASO, GNP+, ICW, AHRN, World YWCA, UNAIDS, etc)
- Independent Hubs organised by any interested organisation or individual.
Partner Hubs Grant
The Conference organisers have put aside an amount to help financially Partner Hubs . As the World YWCA is part of the Conference Coordinating Committee (CCC), YWCAs can apply for a Partner Hubs grant . The funding will be between UDS 100 and USD 2000, depending on the number of successful grants given out.
What is the process?
- If you aim to set up a hub and require financial support, submit your application to the conference secretariat . Amounts will need to be between USD 100 and USD 2000 per hub. An endorsement by the World YWCA will be attached.
- The deadline for submitting a Hubs Partner Grant is February 29 .
- The conference secretariat will evaluate all requests and rank them based on Hub location, relevance, overall quality, moderators, capacity, duration, activities, local funding available, amount required, etc.
- The conference secretariat will then consult with the (CCC) members and modify this list accordingly.
- The conference secretariat will then get back to the hubs by the end of March or beginning of April.
Some hubs might hence get the whole amount they asked for, some only a part.
The hubs location can be everywhere around the world.
The conference organisers will promote the Partner Hubs through the official IAC website, providing technical guidelines and the content.
While thousands of people will be fortunate enough to attend the conference in Mexico City, there are many who will not be able to come due to the cost. The hubs represent a unique opportunity for people otherwise not able to attend the conference in person, to be part of the conference from a specific location in their own town.
