Anita Isaacs: challenging women of the world to stand up and repsond against violence and the spread of HIV
Anita Isaacs is a woman living with HIV that has dedicated her life to advocating for the rights of women living with HIV in Namibia.

Currently she is employed by the YWCA to lead their project on violence against women and children and HIV prevention. Anita is also the brain behind the Network of Namibian women Living with HIV and AIDS to be launched soon. She is leading a group of women who are public with their status and represents positive women at National and International Forums.

Anita started a support group of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) in the Region and the group grew in numbers, which meant dividing the group in smaller groups. Currently there are 30 support groups. Back in 2002, Anita participated in negotiating with Government to bring treatment to the people, and providing better services for PLWHA. She also did awareness creation in communities, schools, and churches. Anita produces a video on women and HIV and AIDS in Africa together with the Elon University in USA.

Currently Anita runs a project on violence against women and children, creating awareness on the links between violence and HIV. Beneficiaries include women and children, PLHIV, men, traditional Leaders and community at large. Anita established the Network of Positive Women (NENAWOLA), and there are now around 400 members. The aim of the network is to empower women economically and with treatment information and also to fight for sexual and reproductive rights of women.

Anita was one of the 14 community women who was awarded for her outstanding leadership on HIV and AIDS at the World YWCAs Women Leading Change Awards in Nairobi, Kenya 2007. Anita Isaacs is to be honored for her leadership in initiating support groups and networks of people living with HIV.
