YWCA of Grenada open their home and hearts for World AIDS Day 2008
YWCA of Grenada promote female and male condoms on World AIDS Day
The YWCA of Grenada participated in World AIDS Day on December 1 by holding an Open House at their premises. The purpose of the Open House was to raise awareness of HIV in Grenada and provide information on the proper use of the male and female condom.

Promotional materials such as water bottles were handed out to people who correctly answered questions on the topic. Condoms were also distributed to those who attended Open House to encourage safe sex practices and behavior.

 

The YWCA of Grenada has developed an HIV and AIDS Committee that works alongside the Grenada National Aids Directorate and other non-governmental organisations to educate both its membership and the general public on HIV and AIDS.

 

The Open House was also an opportunity for the YWCA of Grenada to showcase their recent award for their outstanding contribution towards the preservations of Grenada's National Heritage.

 

The Commemorative Award from the Willie Redhead Foundation of Grenada was awarded on November 27 to the association for the restoration of the YWCA historic building in the capital , St. George for keeping with the historical traditions of Grenada. General Secretary of the YWCA of Grenada Arlene Oluonye accepted the award on behalf of the association.
