Celebrations mark successful year at the YWCA of Hong Kong
A dinner was held by the YWCA of Hong Kong to celebrate their 87th Annual General Meeting
During the 87th Annual General Meeting, a dinner party was held for over 400 guests including members, partners, volunteers and staff of the YWCA of Hong Kong.

The dinner was organised to reaffirm the national association’s commitment to building strong families and communities in Hong Kong.

In August 2007, the YWCA of Hong Kong’s Family Wellness Centre was established. With cases of family sexual abuse reportedly rising in Hong Kong, the Centre provides a full range of services to enhance family development.

“The Family Wellness Centre caters for different ages of life development. We run services for individuals, those who are married and we also run courses focussing on the family”, says Fiona Yuen, Membership Affairs Supervisor at the YWCA of Hong Kong. There is also a hotline service that allows women seeking advice to obtain professional information over the phone.

The success of the Young Women’s Leadership Training Programme was also celebrated at the dinner. The 80 young women selected for the training participated in a range of leadership development opportunities including women’s studies, mentoring camps and international exchanges to organisations such as the United Nations and the World YWCA. An alumni association will be established with the young women who want to stay connected to the YWCA of Hong Kong. “The participants are very enthusiastic to take part in the meetings. We can foresee the establishment of the Alumni Association to be an optimistic beginning and milestone”, says Fiona.

The celebration evening was held on Hong Kong Island with dancing and musical performances.
