Outstanding role of the YWCA of Egypt in the First Governmental Youth Conference

The First National Conference for youth was held between 11-18th of August 2007 in the city of Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of the Egyptian ministry of youth. 900 young women and men under the age of thirty attended representing the youth associations of all the governorates of Egypt.

All the ministries representing the Egyptian Government starting with the ministers of Commerce, Agriculture, Environment,Health,social Affairs, Information as well as different NGO's chosen such as the red crescent, integrated care society and the YWCA of Egypt.

 

The YWCA of Egypt was chosen from among 2000 NGO's of Egypt to represent the NGO's sector in the Egyptian community. Both Dr.Marlene Anawati the National President and Mrs.Lily Attallah the General Secretary. The latter gave a speech about the Culture of Voluntarism and the great role of the YWCA of Egypt in this respect as well as the importance of leadership training.

 

After the talk many feedback questions were sounded by the youth it echoed and highlighted ywca's leading role to uplift the culture of leadership and voluntarism. Our techniques were adopted by the ministry of youth to be implemented, since then the YWCA of Egypt has been chosen as the only Christian association placed in the national youth ministry website www.alshabab.gov.eg.

 

One of the national papers in Egypt called AL AKhbar i.e. the news highlighted the role of the YWCA of Egypt and it was broadcasted on the National TV Channel.

 

The YWCA of Egypt is always keen to implement modern Media Techniques in enhancing community services.
