There will be two meetings of the World YWCA Council in Nairobi: An Extraordinary World Council (July 3-4), and the 2007 World Council (July 5-11):

Extraordinary World Council

July 3-4, 2007

The Extraordinary World Council, called at the 2003 Council, will affiliate new associations and vote on the proposed revised World YWCA constitution.

World Council (including IWS)

July 4-11, 2007

During the World YWCA Council Membership Meeting, there will be opportunities to elect new leadership, review and celebrate achievements of the past quadrennium and set the key policies and priorities for the next four years. YWCA delegates and observers will be joined at the International Women’s Summit, July 4-7, by representatives of partner organizations and others interested in celebrating Women’s Leadership on HIV and AIDS.

The World Council, YWCA membership meeting, will be convened under a revised Constitution if approved in the Extraordinary Council.

Delegates and observers from YWCA member associations and invited guests will:

• Be part of this historic moment
• Express their opinions and hear other perspectives
• Celebrate the affiliation of new members
• Enjoy the festive opening ceremony
• Participate in lively debates, be enriched by diverse opinions and experience mutual learning
• Gain new skills through plenary presentations, group work and workshops
• Celebrate the accomplishments of the Power to Change campaign
• Become inspired by young and dynamic women leaders
• Take part in the election of the global leaders of the World YWCA
• Be part of determining the future of the YWCA movement
